Earworm Tuesday

We break our “real people” theme du jour (du moment? du Juillet?) for a quick and bouncy update. Pete cleverly stuck to the theme without so declaring in his Monday post. But this is just for fun (assuming there was no real Jenny….)

If one is going to plant an earworm, it should be a good one, and “867-5309″ is one of the niftiest pieces of power pop to come out of the ’80s. And it has “ONE-HIT WONDER” written on it in big blinking letters. The ’80s indeed were a time of many high-quality one-off acts — and nothing wrong with that.

I was always surprised that they never had another hit, I mean this is one of the best songs from that time. We danced to it, sang to it, lived through it…it just kind of stuck with us. Then there’s the accompanying video, I remember girls who ended every night out like that….ah, the 80′s ♫

    Thanks for this one Bridey
